Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is a unique initiative by the Government of India that aims to offer 24 lakh Indian youth meaningful, industry relevant, skill based training. Under this scheme, the trainees will be offered a financial reward and a government certification on successful completion of training and assessment, which will help them in securing a job for a better future.

Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) has been launched by Ministry of Textiles, Goverment of India with the objective to build the capabilities of those institutions that currently provide training and skill development programs in the textile and apparel sectors (this includes Jute and Handicraft).

MANAS is an ambitious and over-arching skill development architecture, aimed at providing an all India Level training framework, based upon tie-ups with National/International training organizations (on PPP mode) for imparting training to the minority population, for skills that are currently in demand.
MANAS will also provide concessional credit for minority community after meeting their Skilling Needs for expanding their existing businesses and setting up new businesses.

Development of human resource is crucial for the industrial development of any nation. Upgradation of skills is an important component of Human Resource Development. Training imparted in Institutions alone is not sufficient for acquisition of skills and needs to be supplemented by training in the actual work place.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) is the skilling and placement initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India. DDU-GKY has its origins in the Aajeevika Skills programme and the ‘Special Projects’ component of the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY). The scheme focuses on catering to the occupational aspirations of rural youth and enhancing their skills for wage employment.
Implementation of DDU-GKY involves State Governments, Technical Support Agencies like the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD & PR), and Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs).
MoRD has notified the Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to be followed while implementing the programme. It is mandatory for all project functionaries under DDU-GKY to be trained, assessed and certified in the Standard Operating Procedures. This e-learning portal is designed to facilitate self-learning of the SOP as well as certification.

A National Skill Development Policy was launched in 2009 with the aim of skilling 500 million persons by 2022. Under the National Plan, the State of Uttar Pradesh aims to skill over 4 million youth by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan. In order to achieve this target and provide employable skills to the youth of the State, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has been instituted. Based on the learnings and experiences of other states, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has developed a unique structure for UPSDM. UPSDM acts as an integrated mission which combines the efforts of various State Departments in achieving the skill development targets for the State. UPSDM is the implementing agency for skill development targeted at enhancing employability in Uttar Pradesh, subsuming the targets of various State Departments such as Rural Development, Urban Development, Labour, Minority Welfare, Social Welfare, etc.
